Practical guide · files stay on your device

Review the cutout before saving a transparent image.

Background removal estimates a subject mask. It does not know which details belong in your final product image. Review the edges and transparent areas yourself before exporting.

No account required. Prepare resources explicitly before local processing. Inspection is free; cleaning and cleaned downloads require a license.

Supported input

  • The still-image formats accepted by the tool’s chooser and inspection.
  • Choose a bounded image that fits the displayed model and device limits; unsupported input is refused rather than uploaded.

Key takeaways

  • Inspect first for free. File format and structure—not the extension alone—determine eligible cleaning.
  • An estimated background cutout with an explicitly reviewed transparency mask.
  • Local model preparation and sufficient browser memory are required.

How to do it safely

  1. Choose a supported still image in Remove background and review its local inspection.
  2. Explicitly prepare the selected local model when prompted. Model preparation needs a connection; it is not an upload of your photo.
  3. Run the cutout using the existing licensed action. Review the subject and the estimated alpha matte, not only the preview thumbnail.
  4. Use the available edge controls and restore/erase brushes to correct areas the model got wrong.
  5. Choose transparent PNG or verified browser-supported WebP. Do not choose JPEG when transparency is required.
  6. Export explicitly, check the saved transparency in an image viewer, and retain the unchanged original.

What this workflow produces

  • An estimated background cutout with an explicitly reviewed transparency mask.

What it does not promise

  • Local model preparation and sufficient browser memory are required.
  • No batch cutouts or claim of perfect masks.
  • Transparent PNG and supported WebP are separate from JPEG’s opaque background.

Retained

  • The original image and earlier exports.
  • Any identifying content left in the subject or manually restored regions.

Not checked

  • Perfect separation of hair, glass, reflections or low-contrast edges.
  • How a downstream shop flattens or displays transparency.

Understand the evidence

The matte and saved alpha channel describe the cutout. They are not proof that the original background can be recovered or that every unwanted pixel is gone.

Processing, comparisons and verification receipts stay local. PixelRinse sends no product-usage events. Payment and legacy license upgrades are separate online actions that never include selected file contents, names, hashes or metadata.

Common questions

More answers

Can I remove a visible watermark, remove a background or add text?

Yes, within the stated image, model and device limits. These tools are part of Individual Pro, not a new subscription or credit system.

Technical details and limits

Visible-pattern review is bounded to tested legacy 48/96 px Gemini white-alpha overlays at documented corner positions. Review every candidate; weak matches require manual selection. LaMa generates plausible pixels inside a chosen mask, not recovered originals. BiRefNet-lite estimates a cutout matte with manual edge refinement; difficult hair, glass and low contrast can be imperfect. Text watermarks use local fonts. Prepare only the selected model explicitly; weights/runtime are cached, while your files, masks, text and results remain local and ephemeral.

Can I compress, resize and convert an image locally?

Yes. Quality, crop, rotation, dimensions and format are combined in one local export; the original stays unchanged.

Technical details and limits

JPEG/WebP offer lossy quality settings and bounded target-size search. PNG defaults to lossless; optional RGB color reduction (32 levels/channel, up to 8 MP) deliberately changes colors without quantizing alpha. Compare actual bytes: output can grow. Crop and enlargement are off by default. Animation is refused; secondary JPEG photos need explicit primary-only consent. HEIC remains conditional on validated decoding and HDR/color/auxiliary effects, with PNG/JPEG output only. Processing and exports of your files still require the existing Individual Pro license; free inspection and fixed synthetic demos remain.

Local image compressor and limitationsFull answer

Does PixelRinse blur faces or redact visible text?

There is no dedicated face-blurring or document-redaction tool. Metadata cleaning does not remove visible content.

Technical details and limits

Faces, text, license plates and reflections remain in a metadata-cleaned copy. Pixel editors such as background removal, retouching and text watermarks deliberately change images, but do not guarantee anonymization or complete redaction. Use an appropriate redaction workflow and review the final saved file.
